MyElephant Thai Restaurant Review

Colleagues decided to have lunch at MyElephant at Section 17 PJ. Heard lots of good reviews about this place so had high hopes.

Parking was a problem during a week day lunch, so we were dropped off to get a table first. Luckily we did because if we didn't we would have had to join the long queue. We managed to squeeze all five of us on to a small table for four. Well it was that or queue outside. Easy choice hehe..

I forgot to take a picture of the menu, but the lunch sets start from RM9.90. Lunch set comes with a main meal with a choice of hot or cold pandan water.

Pad Thai

Did not try the pad thai, but was told it tasted good.

Tom Yum

Tom Yum was spicy and sour but not overpowering.

Fried Tang Hun

Stole a bit of this from my friend. The fried tang hun was surprisingly good. I'm not a fan of tanghun but the taste was similar to the pad thai but tastier.

MyElephant Special Noodle

Did not try the special noodle but was told it was average only.

Minced chicken with basil and rice

The minced chicken with basil was mine. The chicken was coarse and chewy, the green sauce on the right was nice when mixed with the chicken. Sweet, sour, mildly spicy, very appetising.

Added a piece of fried chicken costs an additional RM6. Not bad for a whole thigh.

Fried Chicken

The tang hun would be an item I would order the next time I visit. I would stay away from the basil minced chicken though. Also, service isn't their greatest strength. Found the waiters/waitresses to be rather rude when asking for service. For a thai restaurant, I would have expected excellent hospitality.

Food Foundry Review

Went to Food Foundry for Xmas lunch. Reached there around 1130am and was surprised at the crowd. Guess everyone thought of coming early on a peak day such as today.

I ordered the Carbonara Fettucini. Taste was alright, the amount of sauce was just enough to coat every bit of pasta on the plate. Not good for people who like heavy sauces though. Only thing I would have liked would be to have a bigger portion.

Next came the Foundry burger. The chips looked home made, not those frozen ones you typically find. Took a bite, texture is nice, you can't beat freshly cut potato fries. On to the main, the burger doesn't look appetising, it looked kinda bland, cheese was not melted, doesn't look like there was much or any sauce in the burger. Well, here goes.. *munch* yep.. it tasted as bland as it looked. Tasteless, lucky I didn't order this hehe.. So I went back to eat my carbonara.

Since the carbonara portion was small, I was quick to enter the next phase of my meal.. the desssert. I ordered the mille crepe, this was the main reason we came to food foundry. Having first tasting the mille crepe at Nadeje, Malacca, I fell in love with the texture of the cake. Those of you who have tried this know what i mean. Since then, i've searched for any place nearby that sells it. Who would have thought there would be one so near to where I lived.

Well.. here's the taste test, Nadeje in malacca is still better than food foundry, texturewise, food foundry's mille crepe is on the softer side, so its harder to feel the the layers as you eat it. Well.. this still beats going all the way to malacca for it.

Overall, we had an OK experience at Food Foundry, the cake is a must to try. Avoid the foundry burger at all costs. Pricewise is a little high but is worth it for some of the items on the menu. We will still go back to try the other dishes they have.
