Ireland's Potato Midvalley Review

Ireland's Potato is a Hong Kong franchise that made its way to Malaysia. Initially, I thought this was an Ireland franchise. Guess this could justify the high price of their food hehe.. Anyway, back to the review.

Purchased some coupons for Ireland's Potato from mydeal.com.my few weeks ago. So decided to use them since we were in midvalley.

We went to the Lower Ground floor to look for this potato outlet. Upon reaching the place, we noticed the place was empty. Maybe its a bit early to be munching on high calorie potatoes at 11am?

We stepped up to the counter and got ready to place our order. For the chips we ordered the Sour Cream and Wasabi Mayo flavor. Besides that we also ordered Onion Rings and Mashed Potato. The guy at the cashier (chinese guy with glasses) was unfriendly and left us with a bad first impression of the place. Guess its Hong Kong's hospitality their showing and not Ireland's.

The wasabi mayo was the first to be tasted. There was a mild wasabi flavor but was overwhelmed by the sweet mayo.

Next was the Sour Cream. The initial taste was tasteless, but later realised the wasabi flavor numbed the sour cream. After a few bites, the flavor started to kick in. Nothing spectacular, its sour cream after all.

Sour Cream
Mashed potato was next on the list. OOh yumm this was nicee. The mash was light and fluffy the way it should be and the meat sauce was just delicious!

Onion rings were crisp and were definitely better than the ones served in burger king (that's the only other place I've had onion rings).

Overall it was an OK experience. Service was a bit of downer but the food is great for potato lovers. The menu has great variety mostly involving potatoes. Chips and mash with a plenty of sauces, potato skin's and miscellaneous deep fried stuff. Price wise, it is on the expensive side. A cup of potato chips with the "standard" sauces will set you back RM8.80. Throw in a side dish and a drink and it'll cost you RM16.80.

Anyway as a potato lover, I'll probably be back at very least to try the special cheddar cheese potato chips. Its RM11.80 a cup, but there's just something about the marriage between cheese and potatoes that I just have to try.

Jaya Noodle House Review

Decided to pop into Jaya Noodle House today as wife had craving for noodles.

The place wasn't that crowded when we went in, so we weren't sure whether the food was good. Then again, Jaya One food outlets are rarely crowded during the afternoons. We decided to pop in.

We sat down and looked at the menu, there are quite a number of choices to choose from, but judging by the name of the store, we decided to stick to the noodles section of the menu. Wife ordered the two roasted meat combo noodles and I ordered the Soy Bean Noodles Minced Pork Noodles set. The set includes a choice of dessert between Red Bean Soup or Barley Ginko. I chose the Barley Ginko. Since tummy was hungry, we also ordered the Crispy Fried Wantan as a side dish.

After ordering, they will come and serve your utensils and wet tissue as well as a plate of pappadums.

What? pappadums? I thought we were in a chinese restaurant hehe.. I wasn't complaining since I loved pappadums, I just wished that indian restaurants served complimentary pappadums everytime I ordered my roti canai hehe.
After a couple minutes munching away on the pappadums, The food starts getting served.

The roast meat noodles was the first to arrive. First look, the noodles looked a little bland, but after mixing the sauce together and Wow.. its delicious.. man I wished I had ordered this instead of my wife. The roasted meats however was on the normal side. The next time I come I have to order this.

two roasted meat noodle RM10.90

The barley ginko was normal.

Oooh yumm the wantan tasted so good.. They were fresh out of the fryer.
fried wan-tan (10pcs) RM8

Soy-bean paste noodle was a disappointment, noodles were too soggy and taste was a tad too mild for my taste.

Overall had a good experience and definitely would return to try their other dishes.
